Recap of the Masters Summit for Qlik in Vienna

Day 1 kicked off in style with Kevin McCann and Barry Harmsen welcoming all 95 attendees at the Le Méridien. The learning began right after, with Barry leading a session on Managing Your Tenant. He covered key aspects like data, user, and lifecycle management, setting the tone for what would be a day full of valuable insights. Barry released his full session online last week for all Masters Summit attendees, if you did not get the recording via email, please let us know!

Next up was Christof Schwarz, who gave us a step-by-step guide on migrating to Qlik Cloud. He emphasized the importance of planning your work and then working your plan, tackling potential challenges along the way. His demo of hybrid modes and the Qlik Data Gateway was an eye-opener for anyone considering a cloud migration.

After lunch, Oleg Troyansky took us on a deep dive into Advanced Development Techniques. He shared must-know tips on creating starred data models and Set Analysis techniques, essential tools for any Qlik developer. Everyone walked away with practical insights they could immediately put to use.

Then, after a quick break (with a beverage in hand!), Christian Gotz gave us an intro to Qlik Talend Cloud, showing how it supercharges data connectivity and analytics. The day ended on a high note with a vintage-style tram ride through beautiful Vienna, sponsored by Mail & Deploy, a perfect way to relax after a full day of learning!

Day 2 started strong with Rob Wunderlich, who led a session packed with scripting gold. From subroutines to load optimization, Rob’s tips were a big hit. Another standout was the performance tuning session with Rob and Oleg. They showed us how to improve app performance using QSDA Pro, spot data model pitfalls, and streamline UI efficiency.

After lunch, Bill Lay wowed us with real-world AutoML applications. He got us hands-on with Qlik AutoML, guiding us through creating our own ML experiments. Bill also shared what works (and what doesn’t!) in machine learning, plus how to prepare data using Qlik Analytics.

On Day 3, we had new speakers hit the stage! Tom Maarsen and Maarten Anema took us through Application Automation and Enterprise Reporting, keeping the momentum going strong. After lunch, Nick Webster gave one of the Summit’s standout sessions on Qlik Cloud Integration. With over 20 years of experience (including five at Qlik!), Nick expertly walked us through Qlik’s APIs, showing how to embed applications, customize visualizations, and manage authentication workflows with ease. His session was a game-changer for developers looking to get the most out of Qlik Cloud.
